WELCOME TO THE HOME OF LIVERPOOL FANS IN MELBOURNE

2011/2012 MLSA CLUB MEMBERSHIP

The Melbourne Liverpool Supporters Association is pleased to announce our all new MLSA Club Membership Scheme for Season 2011/12.

Since the Melbourne Liverpool Supporters Association (MLSA) was formed in mid 2005, it has been our prime objective to provide the passionate Liverpool supporters of Melbourne with the best possible environment for the viewing of matches involving Liverpool FC, & to unite fellow supporters from across the City.

MLSA Club Membership offers members exclusive club discounts and special partner offers not available to the public. Now with King Kenny back on his Anfield throne and hopes high that the Reds can make a return to the summit of English football, there's never been a better time to join Melbourne's thriving LFC Community.

HISTORY OF THE MLSA

The Melbourne Liverpool Supporters Association (MLSA) was first formed in mid June 2005, shortly after the club’s magnificent victory against AC Milan in the 2005 UEFA Champions League Final.

After witnessing the incredible mass support for Liverpool here in Melbourne during an informal gathering of Liverpool fans for the Final (at a local Irish pub, where some 400 fans attended) a few local fans came up with the idea of creating an organised group - where passionate supporters could frequent, and meet others with a similar love for Liverpool Football Club.

And so, the MLSA was established.

The main objectives of the group are as follows:

  • to unite Liverpool supporters from the city and greater Melbourne
  • to provide a central venue for the viewing of televised matches involving Liverpool
  • to organise club themed events and competitions for members
  • to assist fans traveling to Anfield for matches in future (where possible)

The MLSA has a formal agreement with the The Imperial Hotel, on Bourke Street (http://www.bourkestreetimperial.com), whereby all televised Liverpool matches are shown.

Location:
The Imperial Hotel
2-8 Bourke Street (Cnr Spring & Bourke Streets), City.

The Imperial Hotel also acts as a solid base of operations for the MLSA, hosting regular committee meetings and members’ forums.

At each event, where a televised match is shown, competitions are often held for patrons, as well as fundraising activities to either aid the group, or a particular charity (such as the Hillsborough Justice Campaign, where the club has donated proceeds from members in the past).

After a successful first season, where we had steady growth and continued support at our live game coverage, the MLSA committee decided to take the club forward in a more organised way.

Updates on the club and its events are sent to members via an online mailing list through our long running and award winning club website (http://www.liverpoolfc.com.au), or our new online forums (http://liverpoolfc.com.au/forum) which have just recently been launched.

The two cup finals the MLSA have hosted in the past have been wonderful successes.

In May 2006, some 400 Liverpool fans packed in to witness our thrilling FA Cup Final win over West Ham United. It was a fantastic occasion, and a sign of things to come.

The following year, an incredible 750 people gathered for the 2007 UEFA Champions League Final against AC Milan – a truly remarkable response, that surpassed even our wildest expectations.

This kind of positive evidence not only showcases the fantastic potential of the MLSA, it also demonstrates the overwhelming popularity of Liverpool Football Club here in Melbourne.

We are currently working overtime to have the MLSA formally recognised as an official branch of Liverpool Football Club.

With Liverpool's large fanbase in Melbourne, combined with the big numbers our group continues to generate at club events - we are confident that we are not too far away.

So get on board and join Melbourne's Red Army. YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE.
